You don’t have to figure out college admissions by yourself—or by scrolling through a hundred conflicting websites. The Paratum Scholars Community was created to give students and families one trusted place to come back to as questions and decisions appear across the high school years.
Instead of chasing every new trend, we focus on what actually helps students grow: clear guidance, reflection, and a mindset that looks beyond job titles and prestige.
Why We Built This Community
Families often tell us they feel one (or more) of these:
- “We’re not sure what we’re supposed to be doing this year.”
- “We hear something different from every counselor, website, and friend.”
- “My student is capable, but we’re not sure how to tell their story.”
The Paratum Scholars Community exists to slow things down and give you:
- A big-picture view of the path from 9th–12th grade
- Small, realistic actions to take each month
- A way to connect your student’s strengths and aptitudes with real-world challenges and majors
What You’ll Find Inside
Here are a few examples of what we focus on together:
1. Clear Timelines & Checklists
We provide simple, flexible timelines for each grade level so you always know the next few “right-size” steps—without turning high school into a nonstop college project.
2. Challenge Mindset Activities
We help students move from “What do you want to be?” to “What challenges do you want to help solve?” using tools like the Challenge Mindset and resources such as SparkPath’s Challenge Cards.
Students explore problems that matter to them—climate, health, technology, justice—and we connect those interests to possible majors, careers, and colleges.
3. Resources on Aptitudes & HAB
We introduce families to the idea of aptitudes and, when appropriate, to the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB). Understanding how a student naturally learns, communicates, and solves problems makes it much easier to choose classes, majors, and study strategies that actually fit.
4. Reflections From Real College Visits
Instead of only sharing rankings or statistics, we highlight real impressions from campus visits: how a place felt, what students noticed in classes, and what surprised them. These stories help families look beyond marketing photos and think about fit.
Who the Community Is For
The Paratum Scholars Community is a good fit if:
- You want guidance, not pressure.
- Your student is thoughtful and capable, but might be overwhelmed by the process.
- You value reflection, character, and purpose alongside academic success.
- You’d like a place where questions are welcomed and answered honestly.
Whether your student knows exactly what they want or has no idea yet, our goal is the same: help them make decisions that support growth, belonging, and meaningful work in the future.
How This Connects to TPS College Consulting
For some families, the Community and blog provide exactly enough structure and reassurance. Others may want more individualized support through TPS College Consulting, where we work 1:1 with students on course planning, college lists, essays, and financial aid decisions.
Think of the Community as the shared classroom, and TPS College Consulting as personal coaching layered on top when you need it.
